The Engagement Platform (TEP) has today launched a pioneering pupil survey of 100,000 pupils across England, to measure engagement in schools in a census-like moment.

Sarah Wordlaw took up her headship of Streatham Wells Primary School in September 2022. She’d previously worked in neighbouring boroughs as a deputy head and before that, as an assistant head. Sarah has spent her entire career in education, progressing from an HLTA through to her current position as Headteacher. Sarah’s passion for schools shone through our interview, and the empathy and respect she has for all roles within a school were clear from the start.

I was pleased to meet with Headteacher Mark Tilling and Deputy Headteacher Peter Hayward as High Tunstall’s TEP scores are particularly strong in overall headline engagement as well as workload and wellbeing which is why we were keen to speak to them and explore their approach.

I recently met with Kamini Mistry, headteacher, and Luke Webber, senior deputy headteacher (with responsibility for behaviour), to further explore their approach to managing behaviour at Sudbury Primary school in Wembley after consistently high TEP scores from their staff around their behaviour systems, ability to control disruptive behaviour and ability to develop productive relationships.

Dawn Wilson took over the headship five years ago and introduced values-based education as a cornerstone of the school's ethos from her first month in post. Hill Farm is part of the Castle Phoenix Trust, aiming to provide the best learning and teaching environment across its schools.
