Opportunity to be part of a free national research study evaluating pupil engagement as a lead indicator for outcomes – deadline extended!

Why measure engagement?

As leaders, you need the best data at your fingertips to support your strategy and decision making. This means having formative data that can support early interventions, used formatively throughout the year.

Understanding and using school engagement data supports with this.

This free research study seeks to establish a UK evidence base for pupil engagement as a lead indicator of outcomes. The study will build a shared understanding of engagement and the most effective practical use of this data. Current US-based studies indicate engagement is a powerful metric that can be used as a lead indicator to support early interventions - for example, engagement tends to dip ahead of attendance and attainment.

Taking part involves:
  • Data collection from all pupils* in November 2024 and March 2025 via online survey.
  • Approximately 30 minutes during tutor time in a 3-week national collection window to complete 15-minute survey.
  • You will receive a report* and your raw engagement data for each collection window
  • Platform connection to your MIS to pre-populate demographic data.
  • Full support from TEP in briefing students and staff, reviewing data and feeding back to stakeholders

*All pupils from KS2 upwards

*School-level reports available at cost (£120+VAT)
