The Engagement Platform: Transforming School Performance Through Data-Driven Insights launches in United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Be the first in the UAE and join the growing community of schools using TEP to transform how decisions are made. Our unique benchmarking system allows school leaders to identify strengths and weaknesses and drive school improvement resulting in better teacher retention, staff engagement and student outcomes.

What sets TEP apart is its emphasis on ownership at every management level, empowering leaders to take action based on clear, actionable insights.

Ten things we learnt through the TEP Pilot

TEP's mission is to improve school engagement for better outcomes, culture, and community relations. Through our collection of recurring information from school staff and pupils, we are developing a better understanding of how key aspects of their engagement – such as their views of behaviour at school or their workload – change over time, at key points during the academic year. It also allows schools to look at how the actions they take at class or school level, potentially improve the engagement. Founding partners will have first access to the platform, have access to high quality staff engagement data and robust benchmarks and the TEP school community.

"Actionable insights into school engagement through an easy-to-use platform”

When will TEP launch in the UAE?

We plan to launch a pilot in March 2025 which will run for 12 months. 20 schools will be invited onto the pilot commission to survey teachers and pupils. We have redesigned the TEP platform to meet the needs of schools in UAE and we are delighted to share it.

Why does TEP focus on engagement?

Research has demonstrated clear links between engagement levels and key educational outcomes:

·       Leadership and management factors show the strongest correlation with overall engagement

·       Higher staff engagement correlates with improved student progress and attendance

·       Strategy buy-in serves as a reliable indicator of staff retention

“Finding the missing piece of the school improvement puzzle” Jonny Sobczyk Boddington. "As educators, we’re used to looking in the rear view mirror. Attendance records, exam results and inspection outcomes are vital pieces of information, but they’re lagging indicators. Too often, we lack a view of what’s ahead.

Imagine if there was a powerful, underutilised data source that could act as a compass for school leaders, helping the steer towards better outcomes and navigate challenges before they become crises. Then imagine it could be mainstreamed quickly.”

What Makes TEP Monitoring Different?

Unlike traditional surveys, TEP provides a sustained practice of continuous feedback throughout the academic year. This system encompasses the entire school community - from workforce to pupils to families. The platform utilizes research-based metrics as key performance indicators, placing them on equal footing with traditional attainment data.

Will the benchmarks be the same between UAE and England?

We’re going to be adapting TEP to suit UAE schools which will mean an adaption of the surveys and benchmarks. Commissioners will have the opportunity to be part of an exciting pilot scheme to shape the work.

The Research-Led Approach

TEP's methodology is grounded in extensive research, utilising a fixed question set that measures multiple engagement drivers including:

  • Leadership and management effectiveness
  • Growth and professional development
  • Workload management
  • Staff wellbeing
  •
  • Workplace relationships
  • Teacher agency
  • Behavioural insights
  • Teaching engagement

Each census creates live benchmarks with contextual comparisons, allowing schools to track progress and identify areas for improvement. This systematic approach ensures consistent data collection while providing timely insights for action. The platform's commitment to research and continuous improvement makes it an invaluable tool for educational leaders seeking to build more engaged, effective, and successful school communities.
